Book Recs
Just did some book recs for someone and thought I would share. I think these are top notch reading material!
The Children of Men - James, P.D.
"In the year 2021, the world is a bleak place where all human males have become sterile, and no child can ever be born again. Civilization is giving way to cruelty and despair, and historian Theo Faron has nearly resigned himself to apathy. Then he is asked to join a band of revolutionaries--a move that may hold the key to humanity's survival."
Inkheart - Funke, Cornelia
"Twelve-year-old Meggie learns that her father, who repairs and binds books for a living, can "read" fictional characters to life when one of those characters abducts them and tries to force him into service."
Dick Contino's Blues and Other Stories - Ellroy, James
"Dick Contino, a 50s accordion player, a star in the making, is destroyed by a draft-dodging scandal. His life is on the skids until he comes up with the idea of resurrecting his career with a fake kidnapping scam. Meanwhile a serial killer is on the loose."
The Dark is Rising - Cooper, Susan
"On his 11th birthday, Will Stanton learns that he is the last born of the Old Ones. At once, he is plunged into a quest for the six magical Signs that will one day aid in the final battle between the Dark and Light."
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch - Pratchett, Terry
"Have a nice doomsday. We hear the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. Unfortunately, Sister Mary Loquacious of the Chattering Order has misplaced the Antichrist. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride motorcycles. And the representatives from Heaven and Hellhave decided they actually like the human race..."
